Your questions.
Clearly answered.
From referrals to driving after pupil dilation: here you will find the most important information about your appointment.
01Do I need a referral?+
A referral is generally not required for an appointment at a private medical practice. Please check whether your insurance plan or benefits provider has any specific requirements.
02Can I attend if I have German statutory health insurance?+
Yes. You can attend as a self-paying patient. Billing is based on the German Medical Fee Schedule for Physicians (GOÄ); the published amounts are non-binding price estimates for the standard scope described for each service.
03How much does an examination cost?+
We provide one estimated price for each service. The final invoice depends on the reason for your visit, the findings and the medically necessary scope of the examination, and is issued according to the German Medical Fee Schedule for Physicians (GOÄ).
04Will my private health insurance cover the cost?+
This depends on your individual insurance plan, medical necessity and, where applicable, the relevant reimbursement rules. The practice cannot guarantee full reimbursement.
05What should I bring to my appointment?+
Please bring any available findings and medical letters, your current glasses, contact lenses if applicable, a medication list and any relevant diabetes or eye-health records.
06Can I bring previous test results?+
Yes, certainly. Medical letters, examination results and existing scans are particularly important for a second opinion.
07How long does an appointment take?+
The duration depends on your concerns and the examinations required. The specific time slot will be communicated with your appointment confirmation once the booking system is connected.
08Do you also examine acute eye problems?+
Acute symptoms may be assessed following prior review and subject to availability. The practice is not a continuously staffed emergency service. If you have warning signs, please contact an eye clinic or ophthalmic emergency service immediately.
09Can I drive after my appointment?+
Some examinations of the back of the eye may require pupil-dilating drops. If these are used, do not drive, cycle or operate machinery until your vision has returned to normal. Please arrange your journey home accordingly.
